Erin Vaughan is a licensed and nationally certified massage therapist. She has provided massage therapies for patients in cardiac, arthritis, cancer, and pulmonary rehabilitation and weight loss programs at Duke University Medical Center and continues to see clients at Duke Integrative Medicine. Her primary interests and specialities are Trigger Point Therapy and combining deeper physical work with an understanding of energetic principles to relax the whole body and mind. She is also certified in prenatal massage.

Erin has studied Oriental diagnosis and Shiatsu with master teacher Ohashi in New York City, and also completed a 2 year apprenticeship with an innovative acupuncturist in Manhattan combining eastern and western techniques in each therapeutic session. Though she has experience with eastern techniques and theories, Erin's primary focus is Trigger Point therapy which is western based.

Erin has studied yoga since 1996 and completed a teacher training in the lineage of Sri Dharma Mittra in 2002. She has since completed over 400 additional hours of training with Dharma Mittra in advanced Yogic techniques and served as his teaching and administrative assistant. Master Yogi Dharma Mittra is famous internationally for his 908 poses poster and has been teaching Yoga for over 30 years.

Erin studied Bhakti Yoga and chanting extensively with Sri Bhagavan Das, a well known leader of the Yoga movement in the seventies. The practices of Yoga, including physical exercises, meditation and chanting bring a depth to Erin's understanding of the body and mind and inform her work as a massage therapist.

She received a BS in Biology from Wake Forest University in 1996 where she studied cell biology, microscopy, and anatomy, and has completed graduate work in electron microscopy, neurophysiology, and cadaver anatomy.

Since moving back to North Carolina in September 2007, in addition to seeing clients, she has been teaching courses in trigger point therapy, anatomy, and pathology to massage therapists, and has developed new courses in Comparative Physical and Energetic Anatomy.
